PACKING FOR BALD HEAD ISLAND

You will need to pack as if you were going to be flying on an airline, pack all belongings in a box or suitcase and hand carry any electronic equipment (ie..Cameras or video recorders) onboard the ferry.  Your luggage will be placed on dollies and loaded on the boat, please note the dolly number that your luggage is on for easier identification upon reaching the Island.

FERRY RESERVATIONS AND RULES:

Ferry arrangements to Bald Head will be made for you prior to arrival. The ferry cost is $15 per person round trip. Children ages 4 to 12 cost $8  The ferry leaves Southport every hour and departs the island on the half hour.  We recommend you make your departure reservations upon arrival; we can assist you if needed.  In high season the ferry may run every half hour.  Call Bald Head Island ferry office if you need departure reservations from the island. 457-5006.

ON ARRIVAL:

When guests arrive at the Indigo Plantation and Marina Ferry landing, they should place their luggage on the baggage racks and make sure an outfitter is aware that they have luggage that needs to be loaded (please note your dolly #’s). Luggage tags are provided at the ferry landing for you to tag your luggage and boxes. There is not a charge for luggage, however if you bring bicycles or surf boards or anything that requires special handling such as large and bulky items they will require a “special cargo” ticket which is $15.00. Loose items such as open top bags or boxes, grocery bags, Styrofoam coolers, jackets, shoes, tennis rackets, or fragile items such as video cameras must be hand carried aboard. Remember to pack helmets and pads if you are going to be riding bicycles on the island
